This Stromer ST2 has saved over 24 tons of CO2

Stromer S-Pedelecs are a serious mobility solution for commutes between 10 and 30 kilometers. Stromer rider Rolf decided back in 2014 to rely on a Stromer for his daily commute...

Rolf, his Stromer ST2, and the record-breaking 130,000 km

For Rolf, much revolves around e-mobility. The Swiss developer and tinkerer is a pioneer in e-mobility and a multiple Wave Trophy participant, the world's largest Formula E Grand Prix.

A mobility solution. A partner for adventures.

Why did Rolf choose a Stromer back in 2014 and still rides it regularly today? With a daily 50 km commute involving around 1000 meters of elevation, a conventional e-bike with a mid-motor seemed insufficient in performance and range. A Stromer with its powerful and dynamic rear-wheel motor promised a better solution. This became crystal clear after a very test ride over a pass in his home region. The speed captivated him, as did the time saved on his commute. But also getting farther, and the promise experiencing new adventures.

Barely 24 hours after taking his newly purchased ST2 home from the shop, Rolf was so motivated by its riding and climbing qualities that he decided to use his Stromer not just for commuting but also for several long-distance and pass adventures. Not aimlessly, but with the goal of using as little battery charge as possible through clever use of recuperation and adding his own muscle power.

130,000 kilometers and original brake discs

In May 2024, Rolf surpassed the 130,000 km mark! And as a recuperation master, he still has the original brake discs. An impressive feat. Looking back over the past ten years, Rolf fondly remembers his very first mountain challenge: 10 Alpine passes, 274 kilometers, 6,800 meters of elevation gain, and a night on a park bench because no trains were running for several hours by the time he reached his destination, Rolf told us with a smile.

Another highlight from ten years of driving a Stromer was Rolf's Tour des Grands Alpes – in three days from Martigny (CH) to Nice (F), 580 km and 12,000 meters of elevation. Via Aosta, Val d’Isère, Briançon, and over passes with resounding names like Great St. Bernard, Col de l’Iseran, Col du Galibier, and Col d’Izoard, to name a few examples.

These long-distance challenges were not the end. The athlete also participated in three editions of the Wave Trophy with his ST2, the largest e-rally ever. As one of the few e-bikes among 60 e-cars. Thus, Rolf lined up adventure after adventure.

Thank you for the inspiration and for shaping the future with us.

Rolf is a great example of how a Stromer S-Pedelec can be not only a good mobility solution but also enrich daily life and open up new adventures. We congratulate Rolf on his more than 130,000 Stromer kilometers and are delighted to have had him in our community for so many years. This community now consists of over 95,000 commuters, among whom are other high-mileage riders who have also surpassed the 100,000 km mark. They all contribute to shaping the mobility of the future. We say thank you!
